Omaha Poker Rules

Similar to Texas Holdem Poker, Omaha Poker's objective is to make the best possible 5 card poker hand from two "Hole Cards" and three community cards. The player is dealt four "hole cards" face down, followed by a round of betting. Once the initial betting is complete 3 community cards are dealt to the centre of the table face up. Another round of betting begins starting with the player to the left of the dealer. Once the second betting round it complete the 4th street card is dealt to the community. This card is also known as the "turn card." The third round of betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer. The size of the bet doubles on this round and every round afterwards. A player may at this time raise the bet, check bet or fold. The final community card called the 5th Street or "River Card" is dealt. The final round of betting concludes the game. The remaining players must reveal their cards and attempt to make the best possible 5 card poker hand using 2 of their "Hole Cards" and 3 community cards. The player with the highest or lowest possible hand wins the pot depending on the Omaha Poker game you are playing.

The Small blind and Big Blind are placed by the two players directly to the left of the dealer.

The designated dealer deals each player 4 "Hole Cards" face down.

The first round of betting begins, starting with the player directly to the left of the dealer.

The dealer "burns" a card and then deals the first three community cards, known as "The Flop".

A second card is "burned" to the bottom of the deck and the 4th Street card or the "Turn Card" is dealt to the community cards.

The third round of betting begins with the player directly to the left of the dealer. This betting round and subsequent rounds are double the original betting round.

A final card is burned to the bottom of the deck and the 5th Street card or the "River Card" is dealt to the community cards.

The final round of betting begins again with the player to the left of the dealer. After all betting is complete the remaining players make their best 5 card poker hand using 2 of their "Hole Cards" and 3 community cards. Depending on the variation of Omaha being played either the player with the highest poker hand wins, or in the case of Omaha Hi Lo, the players with either the highest and lowest possible poker hand splits the pot.
