Razz Poker Rules
Razz Poker is 7 Card Stud with the best low hand winning the game. It is typically played with between 2 and 8 players. Each player is dealt a total of 7 cards, the first 3 are face down and the final 4 are face up.
The object is to make your best 5 card low hand using any combination of the seven cards in your hand. Aces are low and straights and flushes have no effect on the low value of a hand. The lowest possible Razz Poker hand is A2345.
Each player must ante up before the game begins. The ante usually reflects 1/5 of the low limit bet amount.
Once the dealer has dealt each player 2 face down cards and 1 face up card the person with the highest card showing must "Bring In", (place the low limit bet in the pot). If more than one person shares the highest card the one closest to the dealer must bring in.
This bet begins the first round of betting.
There are five betting rounds in Razz Poker. In the first 2 rounds all bets and raises must be equal to the low limit bet for the game. In the following 3 betting rounds all bets and raises must be equal to the high bet limit set for the game. A maximum of 3 raises are allowed per betting round of Razz Poker.
All subsequent cards are dealt face up until the last and final card which is the 7th street card is dealt face down.
After all the betting rounds are completed the Showdown begins with the remaining players showing their 5 card poker hand. The player showing the lowest possible poker hand wins the pot.
